The second edition of the International Conference on Sustainability Science will be held in Rome June 23 to 25, 2010, at Sapienza University of Rome, with the support of the Institute for Peace and Sustainability (UNU ISP) of the United Nations University, the Interuniversity Research Centre for Sustainable Development (CIRPS) Sapienza University of Rome, the Center for Integrated Research System for Sustainability Science (IR3S) University of Tokyo , and the School of Sustainability at Arizona State University.
After the success of last year in Tokyo in February 2009, the result of an extraordinary commitment of all partners involved, in 2010 the Conference, there is the dual objective of consolidating the role of the Sustainability Science in the academic field, and at the same time bring together the world of ' industry , civil society, the top managers of large companies, the decision makers of public institutions, with the exponents of the leading scientific research centers on sustainability. The ultimate objective of the conference is to spread the science of sustainability through the sharing of practical knowledge and scientific knowledge beyond the confines of academia.
The research areas identified by the Scientific Committee propose careful consideration to all members of the network of Sustainability Science on the themes: "the complex relationships between man and nature, environmental protection, opportunities of future generations, local governance and global sustainability , economic progress and innovation, sustainable development, sustainability indicators and development, corporate social responsibility, consumption and utilization of resources. "
ICSS2010 serves as the "general were" in this arena of international research and represents a milestone in the establishment of the new Sustainability Science. In addition to plenary sessions and thematic sessions of the scientific content, ample space will be devoted to two panel with industry and civil society who have the goal of transferring and sharing knowledge outside the academic.
